  • Pythian Market has this stunning mural of A. P. Tureaud and Lucille Dejoie hid in a nook of the Food Hall.
  • In 1908, the Pythian Market food hall used to be the Pythian Temple, a space for the colored Knights of Pythias, a fraternal association. This building housed many offices of African American Groups, including the NAACP and the Plasterers Union.
  • Renowned local civil rights attorney A. P. and Lucielle met on the rooftop of the Pythian Temple. The rest became history after BMike planned to immortalize them in the mural.
